Fort Thompson Sporting Goods began its journey in North Little Rock, where Clyde (C.B.) Thompson sold groceries, hardware, guns, and ammunition. His son, C.B. Thompson Jr., eventually expanded the business into Thompson’s Super Market. In 1985, the sporting goods side of the business took on a life of its own, moving into a newly constructed log building and officially becoming Fort Thompson Sporting Goods. The name honored both the Thompson legacy and the fort-like design of the new store.

When the Denniston family took over in 1985, they carried forward the rich history of Fort Thompson while steering it toward an exciting future.
