Celebrating 40 Years with the Dennistons at Fort Thompson Sporting Goods
This year, Fort Thompson Sporting Goods celebrates 40 years under the Denniston family's leadership. Since 1985, the Dennistons have carried forward the legacy of this Arkansas icon, which began in 1931 when Clyde (C.B.) Thompson sold groceries, hardware, and outdoor essentials. The sporting goods side of the business took off in 1985, relocating to a log building that inspired the name Fort Thompson Sporting Goods.
Under the Dennistons, the store expanded to nearly 30,000 square feet in Sherwood, Arkansas, becoming a hub for outdoor enthusiasts. Their family-focused approach, dedication to the community, and commitment to innovation have cemented Fort Thompsonโs reputation as a trusted destination for hunting and outdoor gear.
